Rabid Dog

Woke up before they sing

Darkness

Running minds running for it

Places where you reach until it breaks

Slipping through your finger

And then again as you build up expectations

You do it to them too

Everywhere

As yourself sits on a fence

Missing the mark that you have set to miss

Intentionally

Without knowing you did

How could you do that to you

This person you grow with

And have held in the troubled waters

Pushing through quicksand

To hear a door close

Sending you back down again

Yell I quit

Watch the words run down your body

Challenging your purpose

You yell at you time and time again

How could this be

To not know how to be kind

To you

With the same mind that is kind

To others

Mostly

Wicked tricks planted to fall in

Set by you to disturb such progress

Or to intensify existence

A maddening hour to comprehend

How could this be

When the physical has nothing left

And the mind has given in

You belong to the hate you have carved out

For yourself

Wanting a change that will never come

As you hold it so hard

Watching like the lions watch

Every inch must be perfect

And every angle smooth

As you build the home on the edge

Speaking the edges language

With scars lining the invisible maze

Drawn by you

Patrolled by you

Constitutionalized by you

What have these dogmas done

Tucked inside a sheep’s clothing

Rabid dog

Eating the truth

Eating you
