In The Aisles

Found the center

Once again

From the loud tree

Acorns and walnuts

Overgrown expectations

Deep rings in the sky

They said it would be over soon

The clashing in the evenings eye

When its yelling at once

My feet can bend further

Progress in the simple

Be here by this time

With these things

To meet these people

To say these things

About those people

And give all the words meaning

And give ourselves meaning

And on and on

Then there’s the zero effort

And the theory

Never did or would try

Just to lay in the fatigue

Invisible understandings that won’t shake the limb

Zero truth

Build up the harvest

Collections

Until the trip

When it comes halting like truck lights in a dead end

Kill the deers

Check on your friends

Check on in

Then

Disappear for awhile

Long enough to see past before

Where it started

Outside the materials

Outside the words

Let the assumptions be little boats in the bathtub

Limited space in spaces

One more mile not really a mile

Just a walk in a place somewhere

You once existed

As you have in other arenas

With other spectrums

With other children

With others

And their meanings

Just another bookmark

Saving your place

While you read something else

  1. This contemplative piece beautifully navigates the journey of self-discovery and the search for meaning amid the noise of expectations and routine.

    1. Very kind of you to give it time and relay such a thoughtful feeling. Thank you!
