Warming The Rock

Soft things that aren’t small

Ones we barely notice if we aren’t paying attention

Subtle movement

The tiny spaces on the lines of your face

When you rub your nose

Your mouth

Teeth

How your eyes light up when we are primitive

The way you spindle your hair

How I giggle when you giggle

How you debate yourself

Fighting the feeling

While the world rages

Different storms blowing by

You sit there

Sturdy

Ready for anything

I am like a blanket at your feet

Pull me over when its cold

When the wind is too strong

When the sky is lonely

And you’ve done the days work

Take me to bed

Get warm with my warmth

As I get older and my threads get thinner

I can still cover up

A significant amount of space

You can spill your coffee on me

Even a crumb of your cookie

And I will stay there

Covering you up

When the world is spinning

And there’s just the moment

In time

As we are only that

To ourselves

And each other

Every moment

In this life
