Matt FX Says Live The Easy Life

Matt FX, who was the music supervisor for the cancelled MTV show Skins, brings the “Breezy,” while you sip the classy martini on some rooftop in the city.  The vocal is perfect on the music. It reminds me of Erlend Oye’s Unrest album, but it brings its own heat. “We can live the easy life” stops the rain, and brings that warm sun. I picture being on my parents boat in the summer, at one of the 100′s of coves where they live. Nothing else matters when floating around on a noodle with a cold one. The whole world could crash around you, and as long as you remember where you are, and what you’re doing, the “easy life” will be yours. This is the song that comes on, and everything is in this slow motion head turn. We’re all destined to do something, tonight, lets enjoy this community of love, easy life, and all the fruits that offer up our comfortability.  ”Breezy” features Zoe Penina. The song is a Freebie. Do Yourself a favor, get this, and take it to the party tonight. You just might be the coolest kid in the group.

Arc Light “Balance”

Arc Light is here to throw you back into the days of 80′s indie goodies. When I first heard this guy I put everything I was doing on pause, his voice reminded me so much of Ian Curtis from Joy Division with that legend living on through New Order! Arc Light is Ryan Gabel living in Brooklyn, NY who is recording constantly had has released several albums & EPs on his BandCamp . This track “Balance” makes you want to do so many things and it will be featured on Gabel’s newest release Ancient Soft. Personally, it makes me want to chill the fuck out and clean my room all at the same time. Not really sure how a track can put out such conflicting actions, but it’s happening. Give it a listen…

The image above is from his album Bronze Fortune released in February this year which has a very noise like, darkwave quality to it. The vocals are much higher pitched with a full sound of harmonies behind them, but keeping them steady with that drone electronic tone. This entire album is really incredible, as well as everything else he has released on his BandCamp. You can find $3 albums and free downloads, so check it out while you can! After that, head over to his SoundCloud or Facebook and give Gabel some love. I am certainly getting to be a big fan of Arc Light, this music is a perfect thing to listen to, as you get ready for your night.

Sleep Party People A Magical Ride

I’ll admit I’ve never heard of Sleep Party People until Ryan, who follows here on Acres, sent me a link to their new song called “Chin.” At first I thought he was with the band, and I was turned on to something no one had heard yet. I then began laughing at myself once I came to realize, they have quite the following, over 16,000 followers on Facebook alone. The interesting part about that is the conversation it sparked between Holly and me. Is Acres only about covering those who are relatively unknown, which is a hard thing to say, b/c its suggest that I think the bands we’ve covered thus far fit in this category. This is really not true, so I think covering great music is something we do on here via Soundcloud. The level of following is something we’ll have to decide as we go.

Okay, regardless of how we do this moving forward “Chin” is an amazing song. I’m trying to get a digital copy for April’s mix through their management team at Light Fiction, which is the reason we have the song on Soundcloud, thanks for that.

From the beginning its one of those tunes that sucks you through its vortex of atmospheric beauty, and the spring seasonal adventure is prevalent form the start. It’s the kind of song that gives you wings so you can see above the city at night. All while under the influence of these amazing songsters. I’m hooked on this vice now, the vocal content is remarkable. You can’t really tell what they’re saying, which is a highlight for me in any song. I love when a band uses the vocal melody as an instrument. They wrap enough effect on it to hide the message so you can discover the glowing equalizer in your dark room.

I instantly think of  Here We Go Magic, with their particular brand of epic layering, especially on the vocal. The drums are super straight forward which I like, and everything in L/R panning is providing you the magic carpet to ride. Ryan Ellis, who sent this to me said “Danish dream-scapers Sleep Party Peoplejust released the track “Chin” from We Were Drifting On A Sad Song, the song is on the upbeat side of the band’s musical spectrum but still retains the ethereal vocals and warbling synthesizers. Enjoy and let me know what you think.”  Well Mr. Ellis, I’m  hooked on this, and I sincerely appreciate your contribution to the site. This interaction makes  Acres exactly the kind of collaboration we want. This is something that forms a bond between the writer, a band, and the fans. A place where everyone can get in on the mix. This is already one of the best songs of the year, hands down.

Sleep Party People’s new album comes out in the UK and Europe on April 9th via Blood and Biscuits, and  in the USA / Canada / Mexico on April 10th via Brine & Barnacles.

Lhama-Lhama Gets Sexy

I’m really into heavy sampled out music lately.  Lhamalhama really brings it when it comes to finding things that mix together well. On the  newest track “Making Eyes Across The Room’” its pure House music, the jazz kind that got me interested in the genre in the first place. If I was still spinning wax, this would be  dropped down on the plate, and spun like the sexy track that it is. This is one lustful track, much of it from the brass that runs the show. There’s so much soul on here. The transpo from my living room to the club is a vivid one, and a FREE one to download.

The Sporz Climb The Mountain Of Dust

“Life is so serious, because  it is” belts Baltimore based The Sporz, which all rings into reality with a quick punch to the gut. On this richly bent number he’s telling us why be so particular about things, when we all know what happens, eventually. “We are remarkably organized mountains of dust, need I remind us where everyone is going to end up?” is such a powerful lyric on “Organized.”  I typically relate to the realist kind of music, the songs that portray themselves as a quasi-pretty sound, but in all honesty they’re telling you to chill out, be happy, cause you’ll be dead soon. I have to disclose that this dude has been probably my longest running Soundcloud friend, but that’s not why I’m posting about him. I’ve been a fairly steady follower of his music. Lately, it sounds like he’s come into a new place with his sound, even though it still makes you feel drunk after a few listens, which in a very youthful way,  I really enjoy.  This comes from his particular brand of lo-fi. His voice always reminds me of the sound that would happen in the Lost Boys movie after MIchael drinks the blood. I sincerely feel like I’m swinging from bridges on this tune, waiting to see what’s beneath the fog. Lets just hope Nanook is there to save us all. Nab the FREE download.

Julsy “F(r)iends”

This cute little number from Frances Julsy is the perfect blend of classic indie folk rock, and enough weirdness with the field recording to separate it from anything else in the category. I guess for the sake of “genrefying” it, we could place it with Devendra Banhart in the freak folk arena, which is probably just lazy on my part. I was never sold on that genre title honestly, even though I’m a huge fan of the bands that get placed in with the stereotype. The artist calls this song “bloody happy folk.”That’s an interesting way to describe it, and if you remove the intentional weirdness, there’s nothing really freaky about “F(r)iends.” It’s far too cute to be bloody. Kind of reminds me of something from the now classic movie, Juno. There’s the emotional sense , of a rebellious teenage girl expressing the problems of highschool. Then again, this is me describing things in an easily definable way. It’s a good song, this is really all that matters. The last thing you hear is a total left fielder, that makes the tune playful almost comedic. So, Julsy seems to be a few different things with the center piece being Folk, which is what I call it regardless of all the add ons.

Jonas K.P. Set Me Free

In this pasture of sound you want everyone to succeed.  As I search for these Acres, I’m blown away by how small things are when you shrink them down, from the massive amounts of explorers I’m finding. For example, looking at my own sounds, they become almost immediately less than what my perception glorified them as being before.  I’m sincerely figuring out that maybe making music is not my first source into the creative exploration. It might not be developing this site either, it might be as a listener. Just someone who allows the music to wash over them exclusively so that my findings can come true without the absolute nature of my ego. That’s what this track has made me think about anyway. Irony being, I just talked about myself the entire first paragraph. Jonas K.P. is one of those Artist that just blows your mind into some maze of come togetherness, or self revelations wrapped in some starry nights. More and more I want to be free, honestly free, just sitting on some hood of a car looking down on some city, up in the hills, listening to songs like “You, I, Us.” This is not a knock on my current life, I love it, but damn the man you know?

On this wonderful song, there’s nothing simple here. Everything about it feeds off all the elements used to make it. It’s a symphony of beauty posed to us as some giant conversation.  It’s as progressive as setting up a camera for one whole cycle of the earths offering, and fast-forwarding through the whole business to the length of this song. This is one of the best songs I’ve heard on Soundcloud to date. I won’t ever throw around the previous statement lightly, and if you see it on here every so often, its sincere. Jonas has release an EP on Beatport called Abyss, that you should happily purchase here. On the full length you can’t disengage from the similarities to Tycho, but this kind of music has a million faces, regardless of who blew up first.

This is the color montage bits, with escaped heavy rich textures unfolding. I want to climb to some tower and blast this song through the city, and knock down the chain society presses on us all to be something we were never meant to be. Songs like this play the parts that make us wake up to discovering something. Discovering “You, I, Us,” something like that. Here’s to finding out all the things we haven’t learned yet, and here’s to Jonas K.P. out of Denmark, he just made my week. Thanks buddy, discoveries have never sounded so damn glorious.

Burning Hearts “The Swallows”

Hello and welcome to Burning Hearts! This band seems to be blowing up and I don’t see why they wouldn’t, the duo is unlike any other I’ve heard. I won’t waste your time with giving you their background story because they’ve done a beautiful job of telling you just what they’re about on their website. I’ll talk about how they make me feel, which is amazing! As I went through track after track, I was stunned by each song’s originality. Jessika Rapo’s voice reaches every note perfectly, wrapping you around her finger after every reverberated word. The lyrics are mostly about nature and experience of traveling, and who can’t relate to that? The track “The Swallows” is one that will get you on your feet to dance and move in whatever way shape or form you want, the perfect spring time jam.

This is a band worth getting to know more about. All of their music is available on iTunes and a few of their gems are featured on their SoundCloud. I’m sure there is no shortage on where to find this musical love affair. So, if you live in Finland or ever get a chance to catch their show live, you get back to me and tell me how amazing it was. Enjoy!

Bearcubs Make A “Cascade” Of Bass

I’m in a slightly “other” mood this morning. I could benefit from a run, or just another way to go. Then I find Bearcubs out of Britain, and I’m hooked immediately.  First thing I noticed about their sound was the bass lines. They are so smooth and perfect in the headphone. On the track “Cascade” there’s not much else to ask for in the Electronic Music genre. They make it sound easy, and effortless. I’ve been listening to this kind of music for a long time now, and Bearcubs are as veteran as they come.  When the song drops into its main theme around the 1:20 ish mark, its on. The bass line is amazing, perfect 80′s synth pop bass line. You’re transformed into this outfit and your shoes are not the same. You feel cool, like you could walk for miles, stopping every person in your path, so they could get a glance of you walking down the road. I’ll be honest, if you ever see me walking with my headphones on, I’m literally thinking I’m the coolest flipping dude on the planet at that point. That’s what songs like “Cascade” can do for your level of confidence. This is the purest of cool, the liquid cool in your droplet device.

It appears they’re part of a bigger message, one called Cadence Collective. On their Tumblr it reads “Cadence collective is a group of artists & friends who strive to create and spread positive energy, community over competition.” This sounds exactly like what we’re trying to do here on Acres. Cheers to the Cadence collective! I believe in your message, and we support you on here.  They have a sampler EP coming out March 30th, so be sure and nab that when it comes out. Sounds like it will be a FREE ONE. Maybe we can score an interview about the collective? We’ll see, in the meantime, enjoy Bearcubs.

MOSIS “Waiting Game”

There is a limit to the type of music I will listen to, and after James Blake I kind of got disinterested in most kinds of “dub” until I found this cat on the SoundCloud. Not only does he touch my heart with the low dips in bass but he also remixes on of my most favourite dirty songs “pony” by Ginuwine . I know y’all remember that song “ride it, my pony” uh-huh. When I first put this track on I was skeptical about how to feel about it, I don’t know much about remixes or what really goes into them but you learn with each listen, right? Hooked. I continued down his list on SoundCloud and it was one good remix after another of those average 90′s rap/hiphop garbage pop songs that we loved so much back in the day. (I’m probably just speaking for my self. Texas for life.)

MOSIS doesnt seem to have a BandCamp or any releases out at the time but he does have a FaceBook you can go and follow his updates on. There are links under most of his tracks to download them for free, which is always a plus. This may not be everyones cup of tea, but it certainly is mine. I hope the rest of y’all can relax and enjoy this particular track as much as I have right now.

Jeffers Win “Searching For Susanna”

I must admit this track makes me very happy. Its with great pleasure I bring to you Jeffers Win, a 5 person ‘freak folk’ band trying to make a living in the middle of Manhattan, New York. As I listen to this track “Searching For Susanna” I am over taken by this sense of welcomed melancholy, the haunting melodies that come out of the vocals, the ukuleles, the cello , it all wraps me up in some sort of hindsight. This track makes me feel a lot of things about my college days. Those nights when you’re walking home from some party that was over crowded, not very worth it to mingle with everyone. Still you always walk home thinking of that one person you should have spoken to, but you didnt and the night is over. That is what this song brings me, those missed moments.

There is a line in this track, “you can suffer when you’re old”. This really resonated with me. I think in our youth we spend a lot of time thinking about all the bummers that have come about in our lives. There really isnt a lot of time for that garbage, is there?

Jeffers Win makes you realize a lot of things in one small track, no matter what type of person you are. There is this really beautiful dynamic between the two male & female vocalists, their words sometimes don’t match up but you can still some how understand just what they say. The juxtaposition of these mismatched stylings is what brings me so much love with this track.  The collective of musicians have only been together since December, and plan on releasing an EP sometime in May. I am told by the lead vocalist that there will be some psychedelic electronic tracks to go with the freak folk they have featured on their BandCamp  for free!  We’ve seen so much free music the past couple of days, hooray! I hope you enjoy this band as much as I have. Expect more far out things from Jeffers Win.

Zach Schimpf Rings Comfortable

In the morning, there’s a moment of grace when nothing else matters. We’re truly the people deep down inside of ourselves. There’s not enough hair gel in the world to change our level of liberty, when we open our eyes and are given another shot at the day. We know its fresh, and so much can happen before noon, when we begin to slide back down the hill again. It’s easy to forget this, to forget how much of a gift it actually is, and how many of us are not allowed to accept another one.

Out of St. Louis comes “Faulty Dreaming” and its such a powerful song. Zach uses his taste to sprinkle wonderful things throughout the tune. You can see your community in the woods behind the house you grew up in, you want to run with them. Often I wish to be with only the clothes on my back , a guitar and a few friends to sing with, as we ride the atmosphere like a purple pony in the wind (why not, right?). Zach Schimpf makes the kind of music that finds you imitating airplanes. I’m flying all over the these hazy acres today, looking over the edge on a city that’s never heard of a mellow nation.

Zach also just release a brand new song called “In Place” which is brilliant and continuing on with the same traditions as his other work. He uses effects in such a subtle way, and surprises you throughout with a real knack for panning, not only his voice, but the guitars. This is something I admire a great deal b/c I try to do this very thing on my own work.  Both of these songs I’ve shared today are beautiful because they don’t over use the things that make them that way. On occasion I hear The Shins well-known James Mercer a little, especially when Zach goes for it on a high level and even a little Phosphorescent with the style of music. They both create the distance between voice and  music in such a way that takes the listener somewhere, to make the experience riddled with texture and space. It’s important to present an adventure, an escapade of richness that we deserve for pressing play. Honestly I just want to keep writing about him, but I’ll stop for now.

You  can swoop up  the entire album called Comfortable on Bandcamp for free. and he has a nice collection of things on SoundCloud. Thanks Zach, for the sounds, and the free music. You’re truly an amazing creative explorer.

Nite Moves One Of Best On SoundCloud

Nite Moves is from New York City, and her given name is Mica. The glitched out patterns, coupled with pop anthems, sound like what would come out of a recording session with Akufen and Stereolab. The style is not new, but her rate of delivery, and instincts toward cadence are top-notch. With quick samples like you find on “Laibac” it’s not as easy as repeating some hot hook over and over again. Mica takes you into other things, while staying true to her love for this technique. This really comes out on “Danse” nothing but epic flower buds dropping off the lips of a foreign language. The pictures been painted, and Nite Moves reveals how special they are. I had to share “In The Summertime” just to show you this Nite Move is for real. Shit is endless on her SoundCloud page, and she has two EPs out on Grappa Frisbee Records. This is the only thing you should be listening to tonight. And if you run a label she told me via email she’s looking for a home for these tracks. Someday soon I’ll be opening up a label through this blog, and I can tell you there wouldn’t  be a hesitation. She’s one of the best acts I’ve heard on SoundCloud, and I’ve heard plenty. Respect!

Remote Remote “Redundant Buzz”

The dream of the 80′s is alive in Remote Remote. Spring is here and it’s time for indie pop synth bubbles of goodness, here is your dose for the week! I don’t know about y’all, but with the change of the seasons my music taste shifts. Ladies and gentleman, Jahn Alexander from Washington D.C. is making my Monday pretty far out. Alexander’s track, “Redundant Buzz” is true to its words, but redundant in a way that you’d like to hear it over and over again. His voice reminds me of Bernard Sumner of New Order, I’m aware that’s a tall order but it’s very distinct.

Alexanders lyrics are very intentional, and well written out for you on his Bandcamp, which is a plus. He has no official album or EPs out at this time, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time until he throws it at us. All of his sounds are very distinct and different from one another, Jahn is certainly a musician across the board.  So whatever kind of music it is you like, I’m sure he can, or has made it at some point. Go over to his BandCamp or SoundCloud and do your Monday a favor, you don’t want the rest of your week to suck.

OKTASEEYOU Shoots With A Sun-Gun

Sometimes we need to just walk through there, together if we must, but not afraid to go it alone. Out of France comes this sun drenched “Nostalgia” courtesy of OKTASEEYOU. I went to their Bandcamp, but there’s no option to purchase their music. That was a total bummer and confusing to say the least, but hopefully my corespondence will not go unanswered. I would very much like to spend our warm weather days calming down in our hammocks, and getting soaked from the rays blasting through OKTASEYOU’S sun-gun. If they were a superhero that would be their power I do believe.

Coast/Field = Paris Bound

Put on your lushest purple, oh hell, velvet suit. Grab the car keys, and don’t forget the invitation. Dimitri From Paris is playing the Playboy Mansion tonight. There are balloons floating all over the room, and enough “white mist” in the air to fly to some other world. This is a classic disco joint, the one that puts everything in slow motion so your mind can catch up to your heart. Coast/Field’s “Luvr3″ is like hanging with a friend I haven’t seen in years. This probably has a lot to do with my affection for the year 1999, Daft Punk, Cassius, and anyone else taking us back to the extra hair spray days, of Dancing-Dancing-Dancing, Travolta style. Old school players unite! And if you’ve never heard Dimitri From Paris At Night At The Playboy Mansion (2000). Make sure to click the link and nab it if you want to hear the most amazing classic french house mix. These cuts are from actual house bands. Utterly fantastic, even if you have to suspend your edgy coolness to enjoy it.

ChromadaData AKA Ian Jones

Just a piece of dope works here on all counts. The B role movie samples out of some Ed Wood escape from Mars 10,000 shite. Then there’s the flow, shades of  Slick Rick, Kool Keith, which are two of my favorite MCs, just got into the sack together for this one. The beats are thick, the samples are on so much point, they’ll stab yo ass in the eye. The lyrics on “Brother From Another Planet” are of course right in the pocket. Confident with the shoulder shrug of a kid who knows his style is stupid good (look at the image). Yeah, he’s from another planet, clearly. “Take Off” is filled with lovely globility, with the flute/string bit. The bass line is enough to notice and subtle enough to be smooth as ____!  And then there’s “Kung Fu” with so much funk and soul it would make Super Fly stop and dance with a pimp.

Woah! No Way!

They’ll bury your hands to save their own skin. These revelations only break the mold with folksters and after glows like the one’s we find on Woah! No Way!  She will haunt you with some of her tracks, but the beauty is in there, for me its personal and a tad bit melancholy. Sometimes we have to start over, because “It Starts Over.” I know I did some years ago, I miss the old days, but I’m excited about today. I’m from Michigan, she’s from Indiana, and I can hear my childhood in her music, that palpable midwest vibration, and dead of winter radio. I am a little sad, and shedding a weird  smile. Those days were some of my best, lost in some thin wooded trees, or floating down one of the lakes. On “Little Things” I was immediately lost in some beamed out haven. Back in time, my car was in reverse down this hill, shedding a puke to drive home, even though it would still be a slanted drive after the catharsis. Back home has this darkness to it, no matter where you are. There’s these light patterns shifting through the old roads. So many nights coming home alone, so many nights wanting to be with someone, or  new things that would lead to my finding more than what I had, right then. I did…

OH!HELLO Spooky EP

I haven’t been this excited for an EP in quite a while. OH!HELLO is by far a captivating roller coaster ride for the haunted pop folk heart throbbs out there. I’d say this EP is perfect for a rainy day or a few beers on the front porch. This is a one man show, ran by Michael Todd Berland, from Portland, OR. He bases his EPs on themes, or one word. For instance, the Spooky EP, which you can find on his BandCamp, is partially inspired by scary movies, up late at night sketches, too much coffee and spooky romance. Berland does a fantastic job of keeping you lost in the cloud of beautifully haunted dreamy anticipation for the next track. The entire EP is a smooth listen. It leaves me wanting an endless amount of more tracks. Berland has released two EP’s so far and has plans to put a full album out  in the future, but for now, he’s content releasing his newest free EP called Sleepy. Its been so long since I’ve found an artist capable of keeping such a simple sound but making sure every track is a new adventure. This seems to be easy for Berland, with his smooth vocals straight out of the 50′s, adding on that layered magic. The lo-fi sound is a perfect tone for this EP, feeling nestled up with the tiny static in the background of the story being told. Between his projects, his student career as a graphic designer, and his lady friend, Mr. Berland seems to have plenty of inspiration to keep him going. Get on the amazing Spooky EP and make your Sunday what it should be.

Luke Reed “Under The Sun”

This one’s for those highlight wavers, right before the night shifts into that “what’s next” moment. Its been awhile since I found myself slugging through the crowds of glow face hipsters, and non attentive koolios. This cut is for those other kids, the one’s who hit the park after dark, and enjoy the chill of their immediate collective. You know the memories where you’re laying on the hill, moon is beaming over you, and the crew. Its early everywhere else, but you lay still, grounded in the lateness of life. Luke Reed is without a doubt similar to Neon Indian, Washed Out, etc. But I mentioned this, now we can establish Luke as his own thing, and with his only single on Soundcloud, he’s done just that. It’s just before midnight, yet I feel like I’m “Under The Sun (true love).” Pass the whirls y’all.

Ojo De Dios (Eye Of God)

Jay Mohler started making Ojos de Dios in his Hippie days, back in the late 60′s, after seeing Ojos sent as part of an exhibit sent by the Dalai Lama of Tibet. ”These ojos from Tibet were almost exactly the same as ojos I’d seen earlier made by Hucholes in Mexico. Since then I’ve evolved my own work to 12-sided designs that I believe encompass patterns of many beliefs around the world.”

I came across these mandalas on Etsy when I was working on a mandala project for my 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.  I was intrigued by the string design and so were my students.  We had already studied the sand mandalas made by the Buddhist monks, and these string and wood structures are a more permanent fixture that the students could focus on.

The Ojo de Dios or God’s eye is a ritual tool, magical object, and cultural symbol evoking the weaving motif and its spiritual associations. For the Huichol peoples of western Mexico, the God’s Eye is symbolic of the power of seeing and understanding that which is unknown and unknowable, The Mystery. The four points represent the elemental processes earthfireair, and water.”

Surf’s Up For Settlers

Settlers is a band full of many tricks and talents. Living up in Buffalo, NY Maxwell and Daniel do about a million things. Between hosting house shows, working full-time jobs, and playing steady gigs, they have time to live it up and create a pretty solid sound. Settlers reminds me of some hazy memories, of a crazy night, when lots of running and laughing are involved. The song “Sky Kings” is a track that will make you want to just go for a walk on the sunniest day or jump in the ocean no matter how cold it is outside. With their invigorating surf garage dream sound they transform whatever you’re doing into pure fun.

You can head over to their BandCamp for a free download of the song. Daniel tells me they are still in the process of recording tracks to put together for release. In their spare time they run shows out of their basement called the Jungle Gym which I can assure you is a good time. A few months back I went on a small tour through upstate New York and ran into these guys via the website DODIY, they even cooked us dinner. I would absolutely check out the venue if you’re ever in Buffalo and try to play a show with the guys while you’re in town! I feel very lucky to have run into these cats and wish them the best of luck with whatever is in store!

BeachesBeaches

Basically I woke up this morning in mad love with this band BeachesBeaches. Rather than put up one song, which would be utterly impossible at the moment. I put up a few for your listening pleasure. They have some choice tunes available through Bandcamp. But Soundcloud is treasure chest full of even more gems. I’m not exactly sure how a band like this isn’t being represented on some car commercial, or played in the montage scenes of every movie similar to the dope hits coming out of Drive. This is the window down music, the put on your favorite warm weather shorts and hit the streets with your trusty skate. Its pure bliss, nothing less than fun, and smiles all around. It’s the vision quest in your eager positions without the angst to feel like you’re doing something wrong.  I’m finding every day, bands on Soundcloud are better than anything you can find packaged neatly. Well, almost anything, my friends at Crash Symbols are doing a damn good job of that. I have so many ideas right now, check them out, get active, do what you do on Saturdays. I’m trying to set something up with them for Acres # 1, which I’m thinking will be a ten track mix of one Artist each month. ~ Ryan Boos

Introducing GOSH

I completely discovered these guys by accident, and what a happy accident this is today! This is a wonderful collaborative project from across the U.S of A (NYC to Wyoming!)  I started with the track “Gramophone” which features Kim O’Connor’s mystic and airy vocals, followed by Keaton & Clancy’s magic music making skills (Harriman Exit). O’Connor’s voice reminds me much of Julie Doiron with that smooth and simple sound, that keeps you interested in every word, one after the other.  I messaged them on the ol’ SoundCloud to get some dialogue going and as it turns out I have collaborated with Clancy in the past, you can find that track here.  And here’s their story - Clancy got in touch with Kim via SoundCloud, and they started sending files back and forth. She flew ALL THE WAY to Wyoming to record seven tracks in the studio for their new album Mild Oath. In total, four people collaborated on this project, including O’Connor’s husband, Keaton & Clancy have yet to meet. The date is not set for the release but Clancy assures me it will be out soon!  This is an album worth getting excited about, every track is a bit different, but still keeps the same colorful undertone. I feel as though I’m floating through some sort of weird southwestern KillBill desert. Head on over to GOSH’S SoundCloud for a little preview of what’s to come! They’re truly one of a kind.
